# Karioi Clay Studio

> I've been throwing pots on Wallis Street since 2016, most days with the roller door open and the radio on. The gallery room at the back shows a few other local makers alongside my own work, changed over every couple of months.

Based in 14 Wallis Street, Raglan.

## About

I trained in Dunedin and moved up to Raglan for the surf, then never really left. Everything is thrown or handbuilt out the back, glazed with a small palette of ash and iron glazes, and fired in a gas kiln that takes about eighteen hours to come down. Some pieces crack or slump and go in the seconds bin by the door, priced accordingly.

## What we do

- **Tableware** — Mugs, bowls, plates and jugs, made in small batches
- **Custom orders** — Sets for cafes, weddings and gifts, made to a brief
- **Gallery shows** — Rotating exhibitions of Raglan and Waikato makers
- **Workshops** — Small group wheel sessions, four people to a class
